Update
5 Feb 2009
Hello people!
Maybe it's time to tell you what is going on in the Mannhai-camp... We've been quite passive for a long time, and right now it seems that we will remain that way for some time. How long this will be is impossible to say, but the fact that we haven't composed new music together as a band since 2007, might give a picture of the current situation.
We've done four albums in nine years, which would be enough for an average band-career. Also, we've played gigs in various kinds of circumstances-and always enjoyed it. But now it's time to jump off the wagon for a while and take a look at what we've done from another perspective. Whenever it's time to activate again, we'll let people know about it. Thanks for support and all the best!!

Hellroad Caravan released in U.S.!
18 Jan 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January xx, 2008
MANNHAI CARAVANS ITS LATEST RELEASE TO NORTH AMERICA
TRENTON, N.J. – “Hellroad Caravan,” the fourth release from Finland’s hardest rocking groove-masters Mannhai has received a North American release through Locomotive Music.
“Hellroad Caravan” is the first album that unites former Amorphis bandmates Olli-Pekka “Oppu” Laine (bass) and Pasi Koskinen (vocals) but its sound is eaons away from duo’s Finnish folk-inspired death metal, walking a ground along the lines of classic Black Sabbath and modern-day Black Label Society.
“Mannhai already existed when I left Amorphis, but I also wanted to do something completely different after that,” Laine said. “I listened to lots of KISS and AC/DC when I was a kid, so it was exciting to learn how to play rock music properly. But really we just started the band for fun, and we didn't think about how we should sound.”
The group released three albums, “The Sounds of Yesterday’s Black Grouse,” “Evil Under the Sun,” and “Exploder,” before embarking on a European tour in 2005. In the midst of the tour, Mannhai split with its vocalist and called upon Koskinen to fill in. After returning home from the tour, the group quickly decided that things were gelling with the new vocalist and agreed to continue the collaboration. “It feels great to work with Pasi again, as I've always dug his voice and vocal arrangements,” said Laine.
With a tighter band and heavier, more melodic songs, Mannhai holed up in a friend’s Helsinki studio for a month to record “Hellroad Caravan.” “I recall it as one of the most hectic sessions I’ve ever been in,” said Laine. “We recorded 14 songs and 10 of them ended up on the album. It was a great session and I remember that we spent the whole Christmas in the studio too!”
“Hellroad Caravan” has also proved to be Mannhai’s most successful record to date. “Spaceball,” its first single, entered the Finnish single charts at number and stayed in the Top 10 for three weeks. “It was a huge surprise, of course,” Laine said. “I think people were curious to hear Pasi singing with us, so they went and bought the single. Finland is more open to heavy music. Even small children and old people seem to dig metal here nowdays.”
Locomotive Records was founded in 1996 by music producer Goyo Esteban. Since its formation 11 years ago, the company has become one of the biggest Independent labels in Europe, South America, and the United States. With well-known artists from many genres, its main focus remains rock and metal music, and as a US licensor for bigger Indie labels. As a small record label in Spain, the company started with a lone office in Madrid but soon opened up another office in Cologne, Germany, in 2002. That office is now responsible for the international business and artistic vision for the whole company. In January 2008 Locomotive Records will open a US office in New York to increase its profile in the US market and offer a local and country-specific partner to expand its business even further.
Locomotive Records is driven by a passion for music and is always anxious to pave the way for new artists and bands who also share their love for good music and have an ability to delight the audience.

Mannhai plays Helldone Festival 2007
4 Nov 2007
From Helldone's official website:
"The typical Finnish man, in turn, is stubborn, quiet and always ready to let guitar riffs do the talking. And these riffs are loud. Very loud, in fact. Blake, Mannhai, One Eye Shut and The Black League (led by former Sentenced front man Taneli Jarva) fit this profile perfectly. They say what they mean and they mean what they play..."
Just be there!!

New review online
26 Sep 2006
Canadian webmag Blistering.com has reviewed Hellroad Caravan. Here's the complete article written by Justin Donnelly:
After producing three respectable albums, Helsinki-based stoner rock outfit Mannhai parted ways with vocalist Joanitor Muurinen at the tail end of 2004 after he decided to pursue other interests within music and art.
Although the band secured a replacement in Trond Skog of Norwegian stoner/doom outfit Honcho, he too decided to split midway through Mannhai's European tour with The Awesome Machine under somewhat strange circumstances. This left band members Ilkka "Ile" Laaksomaa (guitar), Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine (bass) and Mikko "Junior" Pietinen (drums) without a frontman, and half a tour to complete. Coming to the rescue was former colleague Pasi Koskinen (currently with Ajattara and Shape Of Despair), and after tour commitments were finished, it was announced in May 2005 that Koskinen was officially joining as a fitting successor to Muurinen.
Promising a heavier and more guitar-orientated sound than its far more experimental third release "The Exploder," Mannhai's "Hellroad Caravan" essentially remains true to its word. Steering farther away from its traditional rock style, the new album is a heavy slab of stoner rock that more than fits within the Kyuss/Black Sabbath mold of heavy rock, but with enough originality for Mannhai’s own character to come through.
The two-minute opening cut "Shellshock" is delivered with plenty of fiery passion that combines grooving riffs with Koskinen’s infectious rock-inspired melodies. The slower-paced "Fuzzmaster" brings to mind a groove-oriented Cathedral, but with catchier choruses.
The single "Spaceball," "Mojo Runner" and "Overdaze" (one of a few tracks to feature Moonsorrow keyboardist Henri Urponpoika Sorvali’s psychedelic effects) are rocking affairs that reintroduce the Fu Manchu/Fireball Ministry vibe of the opener. "Dambuster," "Better Hate Yesterday," the drawn-out "Back In Red" and album highlight "Hall Of Dead" drift toward the metal side of stoner, with Koskinen often reverting to the vocal style he produced while in Amorphis. The final couple of tracks—"Rock In A Cradle (Detroit)" and "Downer"—return to the straight-ahead groove rock sound of the opener.
On its fourth sonic journey, Mannhai has finally delivered an absolute winner, with Koskinen’s presence out front perfectly matching the overtly heavier sound opted for this time around. If Fu Manchu, Fireball Ministry or stoner rock in general is your forte, then don’t hesitate jumping aboard "Hellroad Caravan."

Junior comments the departure
11 Sep 2006
"Dear friends, I've had a great time in Mannhai for the last 7 years but now it's time for me to move on. This is not easy, yet it's something I need to do. There are several reasons for this, and all of them combined just leave me with no other choice.
I can't make the tour, and if I can't make the tour, it's quite obvious that I shouldn't be in the band any longer. I do not want, nor I can't hold Mannhai back. Nalle is a great drummer and he will kick you in the nuts on tour!"
I'd like to thank Oppu, Ile, Pasi Janitor and Kasper for all the good times. You are like brothers to me and Mannhai has truly been my Rock'n'Roll university. When we started, I was 19. We started recording our first album 2 weeks after I got out from the army. I'm proud of the 4 albums we did and I have very fond memories from the 90 shows we played. This has been a great experience and musical journey for me.
We've gone a long way, but things change. Anyway, I'm just a fucking drummer! Mind that this band has gone through some seriously difficult situations, and this is not one of them. Mannhai will continue to kick ass and Nalle will rip some heads off on the tour. I wish all the best for the guys in the future!
Thank you and see ya at the Virgin Oil!
-Junior"
Junior quits Mannhai, temporary replacement in
11 Sep 2006
Björn Again Electric (a.k.a. Nalle Österman) will embark on a European tour as a substitute drummer for Finnish rockers Mannhai. Electric is replacing Junior, who recorded four albums as the drummer for the band before jumping ship to Finnish "boy metal"-band Bleak. Regarding this matter Electric has the following to say:
"I did a few shows with the band during this summer, which went quite alright. So when the band couldn't find a proper replacement, I had to step up to help out old friends making this tour. Of course this gives me a chance to promote my current main priority Sonic Roots as well.
However, at this stage I just want to take things step by step with Mannhai. In my opinion Junior was such an integral part of the band; it is not easy to fill the boots of such an awesome drummer. But, as always, I am there to kick ass anywhere I go."
Founding member of Mannhai, bass player Oppu Laine comments:
"As much as I hate to let Junior go, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming gigs and commitments with my old bandmate from ChaosbreeD and The Blue Horse . No doubt we'll just totally shred together on the road.
Anyway, whatever happens in the Mannhai -camp in near future, this will definitely mean another turning point for us."
The farewell concert with Junior will take place at Virgin Oil Co., Helsinki on 16th of September 2006. Also present is Blake. Tickets cost 7 euros.

New reviews
11 Sep 2006
List of "Hellroad Caravan"-reviews has been updated recently. Scroll down to see the changes. Here's the complete review from Australian Sinister Online-mag by Dru Hanli:
"Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Monster Magnet, Kyuss... Mannhai. Pretty illustrious company to be naming this Finnish combo with, but what you have here, is one of the slickest desert stoner rock bands doing the rounds nowadays. Four albums, countless tours and a handful of personnel changes into the bands life, and it appears that Mannhai have finally hit the nail on the head.
The huge, warm, stoner fuzz attack of ‘Hellroad Caravan’ isn’t exactly what you would be expecting from a band featuring two former Amorphis members. Speed and aggression are traded in from groove and swagger, and vocalist Pasi Koskinen shows off his versatile pipes in a way he never has before. Tracks “Fuzzmaster”, “Mojo Runner” and the single “Spaceball” all contenders for the grooviest, fuzziest, sludgiest, downright most wailing tracks ever committed to tape.
I found it hard to really pick a fault here. The mix is clear, the songs are isntantly like-able and the band’s sense of dynamics isn’t lost in the maelstrom of fuzz. The far-out keyboard effects and atmospherics on “Overdaze” nothing short of... y’know, pychedelic.
Check it out. It’ll blow your mind, maaan!"
European tour
25 Aug 2006
Mannhai is heading to Central Europe together with a Swedish kick-ass stoner band, Truckfighters in October and November. The hellroad caravan will travel though the roads of Germany, Austria and Czech Republic, maybe some other countries as well. The final dates and venues of this heavy r'n'r circus will be posted on the website in a couple of weeks. See you soon on the road and keep those spaceballs waiting for us!
Jorisrock-review in Finnish
23 Aug 2006
Mannhaihin parin keikan ajaksi rumpaliksi kiinnitetty raskaan rockin monitoimimies Nalle Österman kruunasi koko kakun pieksemällä nahkanpalasista paskat pihalle kannusatsinsa takana. Miehen soittotyylihän ei tosin koskaan ole ollut mitenkään anteeksipyytelevä. Mannhain keikka oli kokonaisuutena suorastaan uskomattoman hullua ja tyylikästä tavaraa. "

MANNHAI score "Dynamite" in Rock Hard Germany!
MANNHAI - that's the band of two former AMORPHIS members, namely vocalist Pasi Koskinen and bass player Oppu Laine. Don't expect "dark metal" or whatsoever, but ROCK from straight to doomy in the vein of Kyuss, Alice in Chains or oldschool Black Sabbath.
Their fourth album "Hellroad Caravan will be out on Dockyard June 26th - and they've got raving revies so far! In Rock Hard magazine Germany they scored number 2 on the editor's charts which makes them one of 10 specially featured "albums of the month":
"... this 'Hellroad Caravan" cruises through the desert to stop only at the Titty Twister to get more dope, booze and speed. Just like Mustasch or Spiritual Beggars, MANNHAI are here to kick the butt of Stoner Rock to get it rocking like hell." 9/10 points
temporary replacement for junior
14 Jun 2006
On the next two MANNHAI shows the band will be joined by Björn Again Electric aka Nalle Österman from SONIC ROOTS sitting on the drum stool. In regards to this some might remember Nalle and Oppu playing together already in CHAOSBREED , so this is no new feat.

Mannhai signed to Dockyard1
7 Apr 2006
We're glad to announce that Hellroad Caravan will be released in Europe next June .
Here's the statement, taken from the DOCKYARD 1 news
(April 06th - 2006):
"...MANNHAI: the heaviest rock group from Finland
We are looking forward to release "Hellroad Caravan" on June 12th, 2006. This monstertruck of an album is fueled by a new line-up: singer Pasi Koskinen joined MANNHAI in the middle of the 2005 European tour after they had to let go of Pasi's predecessor.
Pasi lead MANNHAI back to their roots - an earthy bastard of a breed where Black Sabbath meets Alice in Chains, where Mother Love Bone got KISSed by desert-dry riffs. And still this mix is catchy as hell."
Look forward to see Mannhai live in the EU soon!

HELLROAD CARAVAN hits the Finnish strores
16 Feb 2006
MANNHAI's new album HELLROAD CARAVAN has been released in Finland. HELLROAD CARAVAN, MANNHAI's fourth full length album is band's first release with the new vocalist Pasi Koskinen. HELLROAD is also MANNHAI's first album for the Finnish independent label Bull's Eye Records.
HELLROAD is meanier and heavier than their previous releases, but includes all the psychedelic elements that have been present in MANNHAI's earlier works. The first single from the album, SPACEBALL, topped the Finnish single charts right after it's release, and has gotten a lot of attention among the Finnish radio-stations.

Mannhai Bull's Eye Recordsille
4 Jan 2006
Pysy kuulolla.
